        <abstract>
            <para>Meetnetten.be - Feromone traps for saproxyle beetles in Flanders, Belgium is a sampling event dataset published by the Research Institute of Nature and Forest (INBO). It is part of the Meetnetten.be suite of monitoring networks for priority species in Flanders, in which data are collected at fixed locations using a standardized protocol (https://meetnetten.be).</para><para> This dataset contains area count data for Elater ferrugineus, one priority beetle species. Here it is published as a standardized Darwin Core Archive and includes for each sampling event an eventID, date, location and sampling protocol (in the event core) and for each occurrence an occurrenceID, the number of recorded individuals, status (present/absent) and scientific name (in the occurrence extension).</para><para> Issues with the dataset can be reported at https://github.com/inbo/meetnetten-occurrences/issuesGeneralized and/or withheld information: as these are sensitive priority species, location information is generalized to 5x5 km Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grid cells. </para><para>Original locations are available upon request.</para><para>We have released this dataset to the public domain under a Creative Commons Zero waiver. We would appreciate it if you follow the INBO norms for data use (https://www.inbo.be/en/norms-data-use) when using the data. If you have any questions regarding this dataset, don't hesitate to contact us via the contact information provided in the metadata or via opendata@inbo.be.For all published INBO Meetnetten.be datasets, see https://www.gbif.org/dataset/search?project_id=meetnetten.be</para>

                        <para>The distribution of the rusty-brown click beetle is poorly understood because this 2-cm-long beetle was previously difficult to spot. Now, pheromones are available for this rare but conspicuous click beetle, which promptly attracts the species. The larvae of this species live as top predators in hollow trees. If the species is present, it indicates that there are still sufficient hollow trees in the landscape (pollards, standard trees, park trees, etc.) and that the communities of beetles and other invertebrates in these cavities are still sufficiently present. It is therefore an ideal indicator species for small-scale landscapes and forests. In this catch-up, we provide you with the pheromones to hang in a simple trap in a suitable area. Some cages are already fixed, but others can be chosen freely as long as suitable habitat is present.</para>
