Описание
The Monitoring of invasive alien plants in the LIFE RIPARIAS areas in Flanders, Belgium is a sampling event dataset generated by Landmax (https://landmax.be) and published by the Agency for nature and forests (ANB) (Flanders, Belgium). The data are collected in the context of targeted monitoring on watercourses and ponds within the river basins of the Dijle, Zenne and Mark, during the summer of 2022. Only invasive alien species are presented in this dataset. The data are published as a standardized Darwin Core Archive and includes for each sampling event record an event ID, location, date and time (in the event core), supplemented with information about the occurrence of a species and its abundance (in the occurrence extension) and any measurements associated with the occurrence (in the measurements or facts extension).Issues with the dataset can be reported at https://github.com/riparias/anb-plants-occurrences/issues

The spread of invasive alien species (IAS) is not hampered by administrative borders. Aquatic IAS, in particular, spread rapidly through the hydrographic network. To effectively control such species requires coordinated management at higher spatial scales. LIFE RIPARIAS (Reaching Integrated and Prompt Action in Response to Invasive Alien Species) aims to achieve such coordination across regional borders in Belgium, supported by open data and open infrastructure for early warning and management reporting. LIFE RIPARIAS aims at improving decision making on IAS management, early warning systems and management reporting tools. To this end, it develops an evidence-based workflow, translating national management objectives into concrete actions in an efficient manner. Ultimately the project aims at increasing the conservation status of aquatic and riparian habitats. More information on LIFE RIPARIAS is available at the project homepage: https://www.riparias.be/. Финансирование | LIFE RIPARIAS is co-funded by the three Belgian regions and the European Union in the framework of the LIFE Programme (LIFE19 NAT/BE/000953). It is running from 2021 to 2026. |
Описание района исследования | Dijle, Mark and Zenne river basin of the Scheldt district, Belgium. |
Описание плана выполнения исследований | LIFE RIPARIAS focuses on aquatic and riparian plants as well as crayfish species located in the Dijle, Mark and Zenne river basin of the Scheldt district in Belgium. Cumulative observation data collected in 2000-2015, completed by data gathered from field surveillance in 2021-2022, will provide the baseline to design management objectives and define quantitative targets. |

Описание этапа методики:
- The source data for this standardized sampling event dataset is an Excel spreadsheet managed by the Agency for Nature and Forests.
- This data file was uploaded to a github repository (https://github.com/riparias/anb-plants-occurrences/tree/main/data/raw).
- We developed an RMarkdown (https://github.com/riparias/anb-plants-occurrences/blob/main/src/dwc_mapping.Rmd) and SQL (https://github.com/riparias/anb-plants-occurrences/tree/main/sql) script to document and perform the transformation of the data to Darwin Core, which includes transforming the data to an event core (https://rs.gbif.org/core/dwc_event_2022-02-02.xml), an occurrence extension (https://rs.gbif.org/core/dwc_occurrence_2022-02-02.xml) and a measurements or facts extension (https://rs.gbif.org/extension/dwc/measurements_or_facts_2022-02-02.xml).
- The resulting Darwin Core data files are uploaded to the INBO IPT and documented with metadata.
- The dataset is published and registered with GBIF.
