Description

This dataset comprises aquatic vegetation surveys conducted across Flemish water courses during the summers of 2006 to 2009. The primary objective was to map the spatial distribution of Natura 2000 habitat type 3260 (Water courses of plain to montane levels with the Ranunculion fluitantis and Callitricho-Batrachion vegetation) in Flanders (northern Belgium). These plant inventories are conducted in water courses with previous indications of typical species of the habitat type (Leyssen et al. 2020). Where no typical species occurred, only presence of species was registered. If typical species were found, the aquatic vegetation list was enhanced with cover estimates using a modified Tansley scale (Leyssen et al. 2005, Leyssen 2017). Integrated into reports by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO), these data delineate the spatial distribution of habitat type 3260 (Leyssen et al. 2020, De Saeger et al. 2025) to support reporting under the EU Habitats Directive.This dataset comes from INBOVEG, the Flemish vegetation database, also part of the Global Index of Vegetation-plot databases (GIV) and the European Vegetation Archive. This GBIF dataset contains the same data as in INBOVEG: its relevant GIV identification code is IV2024011009555776 (HT3260_Inventarisatie).To allow anyone to use this dataset, we have released the data to the public domain under a Creative Commons Zero waiver (http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/).
