Invasive species - Invasive plants near waterways in West and East Flanders, Belgium

最新版本 由 Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO) 發佈於 Apr 3, 2019 Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO)

Invasive species - Invasive plants near waterways in West and East Flanders, Belgium is a sampling event dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains over 2,000 occurrences of 25 invasive alien plants along navigable waterways in West and East Flanders, Belgium. The dataset is the result of an exploratory screening in 2011 for these plants by the INBO and is a first attempt to assess the problem of invasive alien species along these watercourses, in order to underpin options for control or management.

We have released this dataset to the public domain under a Creative Commons Zero waiver. We would appreciate it if you follow the INBO norms for data use (https://www.inbo.be/en/norms-data-use) when using the data. If you have any questions regarding this dataset, don't hesitate to contact us via the contact information provided in the metadata or via opendata@inbo.be.

This dataset was published as open data for the TrIAS project (Tracking Invasive Alien Species http://trias-project.be, Vanderhoeven et al. 2017), with technical support provided by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO).

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,952 records. 1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

  • Event (核心)
    1952
  • Occurrence
    2052

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

計畫資料

Invasive alien plants are of increasing global concern. These plants potentially harm local biodiversity, economy, public health and road safety. Therefore, they are being increasingly counteracted. Before going into action, knowledge is needed on the distribution of invasive alien species, the desirability of their eradication and control methods.

取樣方法

Fieldwork was mostly done by bike, surveying the river- and canalbanks. The goal was to have an overview, not to have an exhaustive mapping of all alien plants near waterways.

研究範圍 In 2011, ca. 1250 kilometers were screened (not in detail) for the presence of invasive alien plants, as defined by the ISEIA-protocol. 23 invasive alien plant species were recorded, of which 13 belong to the ‘black list’ (species with the highest biological impact). The presence of invasive alien plants spanned 74 kilometers of river or canal banks (not taking overlap between species into account), 48 kilometers of which were occupied by black-list species.

方法步驟描述:

  1. The source data for this dataset are stored in the INBO NBN database.
  2. Create two SQL views to transform the data to Darwin Core (Events and Occurrences). These queries are available on GitHub at https://github.com/inbo/data-publication/tree/master/datasets/invasive-plants-waterways-occurrences.
  3. These views are connected to the INBO IPT and documented with metadata.
  4. The dataset is published and registered with GBIF.
