Description

Please see the accompanying report (in Dutch) for more details: https://doi.org/10.21436/inbor.17520375.This dataset comes from INBOVEG, the INBO vegetation record database (also part of the "Global Index of Vegetation-plot databases" and the "European Vegetation Archive". The GBIF dataset is the same as the data in INBOVeg. The relevant identification code is IV2012080813274042.To allow anyone to use this dataset, we have released the data to the public domain under a Creative Commons Zero waiver (http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/). We would appreciate however, if you read and follow these norms for data use (http://www.inbo.be/en/norms-for-data-use) and provide a link to the original dataset (https://doi.org/10.15468/gouexm) whenever possible. If you use these data for a scientific paper, please cite the dataset following the applicable citation norms and/or consider us for co-authorship. We are always interested to know how you have used or visualized the data, or to provide more information, so please contact us via the contact information provided in the metadata or via opendata@inbo.be.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 80 records.

1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

Event (core)
80
Occurrence

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data

Report available from: https://doi.org/10.21436/inbor.17520375 Project homepage: https://www.vlaanderen.be/inbo/en-GB/projects/evaluatie-en-ontwikkeling-herstelbeheer-in-het-kader-van-pas-programmatische-aanpak-stikstof In 2012 INBO conducted an explorative study on liming in heathlands in cooperation with conservation managers of 16 heathlands, more or less evenly distributed over sandy Flanders. Soil samples were taken of 32 pairs of plots, where one plot had been limed in the past and one unlimed plot which could serve as the reference situation. The composition of the vegetation was surveyed in all sampled plots, with a particular attention to the key species of heath and species-rich Nardus grassland (which is also a target habitat in some areas). Based on the results of the first phase, 18 new pairs of plots, located in six pilot areas, were installed between 2012 and 2014 in a new lime treatment experiment. Over a period of three years, soil samples were taken and analysed biannually (once in spring and once in autumn). The composition of the vegetation was recorded at the onset of the experiment and after roughly three years.

Sampling Methods

Coverage by species was estimated in the field by experts, using the Londo scale (Londo, 1975), and was subsequently converted into percentages. All vascular plants and the common moss species that could be identified without microscopic examination were recorded. This vegetation data (129 plots across 16 areas during the period 2012–2016) were entered into the Flemish vegetation survey database INBOVEG. This is the dataset that is presented here. Please see the accompanying report (in Dutch) for more details: https://doi.org/10.21436/inbor.17520375.
